Mi esposo es muy paciente, mientras que yo tengo la tendencia a querer que las cosas se hagan rápido. Él me ha dicho por años: “Rápido y frágil. Lento y sólido”. Ser precipitados nos puede terminar causando muchos problemas. Decimos cosas que desearíamos no haber dicho, hacemos compromisos difíciles de cumplir, y compramos cosas que lamentamos haber comprado cuando tenemos que comenzar a hacer pagos. La persona apresurada, al final siempre pierde en lugar de ganar.
Afortunadamente, Dios es muy paciente con nosotros y nunca se da por vencido. La paciencia es un fruto del Espíritu. Lo tenemos porque el Espíritu Santo vive en nosotros, pero necesitamos ejercitarnos para desarrollarlo y fortalecerlo. Heredamos las promesas de Dios a través de la fe y la paciencia (Hebreos 6:12).
Me he vuelto más paciente con el paso de los años, porque he aprendido por experiencia que ser impaciente no hace que Dios se apresure. Sus tiempos son perfectos y deberíamos aprender a esperar por lo que sea, disfrutando de nuestras vidas durante la espera. ¿Qué estás esperando ahora mismo? Sea lo que sea, Dios ve tu corazón, y si eso es lo mejor para ti, él te lo dará en el momento justo.

SLOW AND STEADY
The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.
—PROVERBS 21:5
My husband is very patient, while I have a tendency to want things done quickly. He has said for years, “Fast and fragile. Slow and solid.” Being hasty can end up causing us a lot of trouble. We say things we wish we had not said, we make commitments that are difficult to keep, and we buy things we regret purchasing once we have to make payments on them. The hasty person always loses instead of gaining in the end.
Thankfully, God is very patient with us, and He never gives up on us. Patience is a fruit of the Spirit. We have it because the Holy Spirit lives in us, but we need to exercise it in order to develop and strengthen it. We inherit God’s promises through faith and patience (Hebrews 6:12).
I have become more patient as the years have gone by because I have learned from experience that being impatient does not make God hurry. His timing is perfect, and we should learn to wait for it, enjoying our lives while we wait.
What are you waiting for right now? Whatever it is, God sees your heart, and if it is the best thing for you, He will give it to you at just the right time.
Prayer:
“Father, I appreciate Your patience with me, and I ask that You help me exercise patience instead of being hasty. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
