Cuando terminó de hablar, dijo a Simón: Boga mar adentro, y echad vuestras redes para pescar. Respondiendo Simón, le dijo: Maestro, toda la noche hemos estado trabajando, y nada hemos pescado; más en tu palabra echaré la red.

¿Alguna vez has hecho algo que crees que era bueno y lo correcto, pero no obtuviste los resultados que esperabas? Quizá creíste que era algo que Dios te dijo que hicieras, pero no funcionó. Si es así, entonces entiendes lo que sintió Simón (también conocido como Pedro) en su viaje de pesca, el que leemos en Lucas 5. Él y sus amigos habían pescado toda la noche y no atraparon nada, por lo que tenían pocas esperanzas de que lanzar sus redes de nuevo fuese productivo.
Pero fíjate en la respuesta de Simón cuando Jesús le dijo que lo intentara una vez más. Primero respondió: “Maestro, toda la noche hemos estado trabajando, y nada hemos pescado”; pero sus próximas palabras demuestran su obediencia: “mas en tu palabra echaré la red”.
¿Qué le dirás al Señor cuando hayas trabajado por mucho tiempo sin resultado y te pida que intentes de nuevo? ¿Dejarás que tu razón domine tus pensamientos y le dirás que lo has estado haciendo por semanas, meses o años, y nada ha pasado? O vas a responder como Simón y dirás: “mas en tu palabra echaré la red” e intentarás de nuevo.
Cuando Simón echó la red, como Jesús le pidió que hiciera, sacó más peces que nunca. Cuando obedeces a Dios, no hay límite para las cosas maravillosas que él hará a través de ti.
Oración:
“Padre, todo lo que me digas que haga, lo haré, porque tú lo pides. En el nombre de Jesús. Amén.”
BECAUSE HE SAYS SO
When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”

Have you ever done something you believed to be good and right, but not gotten the results you expected? Maybe you believed it was something God told you to do, but it didn’t seem to work. If so, then you understand how Simon (also known as Peter) felt about his fishing expedition recorded in Luke 5. He and his friends had fished all night and caught nothing, so they had little hope that casting their nets again would be productive.
But notice Simon’s response when Jesus told them to fish one more time. His first answer was to reason with Jesus, saying, “We’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything.” But his next words reveal his obedience: “But because you say so, I will let down the nets” (emphasis mine).
What will you say to the Lord when you have worked for a long time with no results and He asks you to try again? Will you let reason take over your thoughts and tell Him that you have already been doing it for weeks, months, or years—and nothing has happened? Or will you respond as Simon did, saying, “But because you say so,” I will try again.
When Simon let down his nets after Jesus told him to, he hauled in his biggest catch ever. When you obey God, there’s no limit to the wonderful things He will do through you.
Prayer:
“Father, whatever You tell me to do, I will do—because You say so. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
