Cuán seguido a fin de año expresamos cosas como: “¡no puedo creer que este año terminó!” o “¡el tiempo vuela!”. A veces, en una graduación o boda decimos: “¡mis hijos ya están grandes y apenas puedo recordar sus años de crecimiento!”. Decimos cosas como estas porque el tiempo pasa muy rápido, especialmente para aquellos de nosotros que estamos muy ocupados. Recordemos que Dios nunca nos mandó a estar ocupados sino a ser productivos. Podemos estar ocupados haciendo nada, o atareados haciendo algo que agregará valor a nuestra vida o a la de alguien más.
Considera estas palabras que Pablo escribió en Efesios acerca de cómo vivir: “Mirad, pues, con diligencia cómo andéis, no como necios sino como sabios, aprovechando bien el tiempo, porque los días son malos. Por tanto, no seáis insensatos, sino entendidos de cuál sea la voluntad del Señor” (Efesios 5:15-17).
Quiero ser una persona con propósito, una que piensa qué quiere hacer y qué quiere Dios que haga, y luego disciplinarme a mí misma para hacerlo. Es muy frustrante para mí tener un buen plan de acción para el día y luego encontrar, al final del día, que no he hecho nada de lo que me propuse hacer y en cambio he perdido el tiempo en cosas que ni siquiera soy capaz de recordar haber hecho.
Tengamos un propósito y roguémosle a Dios ayuda para mantener el rumbo y enfocados cada día.
Oración:
“Padre, ayúdame a ser una persona con propósitos. Guíame para usar mi tiempo con sabiduría y ser productivo. En el nombre de Jesús. Amén”.
WHERE DID THE TIME GO?
Lord, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered—how fleeting my life is.

How often do we say at the end of a year, “I can’t believe this year is over!” Or, “Time flies!” How often do we comment at a graduation or a wedding, “My children are grown, and I can barely remember their growing-up years!” We make statements such as these because time does go by quickly, especially for those of us who are busy. Let’s remember that God never commanded us to be busy, but to be fruitful (productive). We can be busy doing nothing, or busy doing something that will add value to our life or to someone else’s.
Consider these words, which Paul wrote to the Ephesians about how to live: “Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people), making the very most of the time [buying up each opportunity], because the days are evil. Therefore do not be vague and thoughtless and foolish, but understanding and firmly grasping what the will of the Lord is” (Ephesians 5:15–17 AMPC).
I want to be an “on purpose” person—one who thinks about what I want to do and what God wants me to do, and then disciplines myself to do it. It is very frustrating to me to have a good plan of action for the day and then find, at the end of the day, that I have done nothing I intended to do and instead have wasted my time on things I can’t even clearly remember doing.
Let us be more purposeful and ask God to help us stay on target and focused each day.

“Father, help me to be an ‘on purpose’ person. Guide me to use my time wisely and bear good fruit. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
