¿Qué busco con esto: ganarme la aprobación humana o la de Dios? ¿Piensan que procuro agradar a los demás? Si yo buscara agradar a otros, no sería siervo de Cristo.
GÁLATAS 1:10 (NVI).
Recuerda que un día rendirás cuentas a Dios por tu vida. Habrá un día de juicio. La Biblia afirma: «Así que cada uno de nosotros tendrá que dar cuentas de sí a Dios». Se te va a pedir una explicación de todo lo que has dicho y hecho. ¡Este es un pensamiento aleccionador! Si mantienes esta realidad en mente, cambiará la forma en que vives cada día y para quién vives. Tu valor se fortalecerá a fin de decirle que no a las cosas que preferirías no tener que explicarles a Dios algún día.
En esos momentos en que te sientas tentado a diluir la verdad, hacer acomodos en tus creencias o rechazar tu fe, recuerda que Jesús no te negó. Él murió públicamente en la cruz por ti. «Tanto el que santifica como los que son santificados tienen un mismo origen, por lo cual Jesús no se avergüenza de llamarlos hermanos». Jesús no se avergüenza de ti. Él afirma que eres parte de su familia si te has arrepentido de tus pecados y confiado en él para tu salvación.
Sin embargo, hay una pregunta: Debido a que le temes a la desaprobación, ¿te has avergonzado de Jesús? Recuerda, un día tendrás que rendirle cuentas. Y Jesús dice: «Si alguien se avergüenza de mí y de mis palabras, el Hijo del hombre se avergonzará de él cuando venga en su gloria». ¿Se avergonzará Jesús de ti un día debido a que tú te avergonzaste de él?
Recuerda que Dios te hizo para ser tú y no nadie más. Esta es la verdad final a la que aferrarse. Anteriormente en este libro mencioné que cuando llegues al cielo, Dios no te va a decir: «¿Por qué no te pareciste más a tu hermano, o a tu madre, o a tu padre?». No va a averiguar: «¿Fuiste popular? ¿Le caíste bien a todo mundo y cumpliste todas las expectativas de la gente?». No. Dios te va a preguntar: «¿Cumpliste el propósito para el que te creé?».

Pensando en mi propósito
PUNTO DE REFLEXIÓN: La felicidad es mi decisión. No necesito la aprobación de nadie para ser feliz.
VERSÍCULO PARA RECORDAR: «Aunque mi padre y mi madre me abandonen, el SEÑOR me recibirá en sus brazos». Salmo 27:10 (NVI).
PREGUNTA PARA CONSIDERAR: ¿La opinión de quién es la que más me importa? ¿Por la aprobación de quién vivo?
DAY 42/Ninth part – The People-Pleaser Trap
I’m not trying to be a people pleaser! No, I am trying to please God. If I were still trying to please people, I would not be Christ’s servant.
GALATIANS 1:10 (NLT)
Remember that one day I will give an account of my life to God. There will be a day of reckoning. The Bible says, “Yes, each of us will give a personal account to God.” 27 you’re going to be asked for an explanation of everything you have said and everything you have done. That is a sobering thought! If you keep this fact in mind, it will change how you live each day and who you live it for. It will strengthen your courage to say no to things that you would rather not have to explain to God someday.
In those moments when you are tempted to water down the truth, compromise your beliefs, or deny your faith, remember that Jesus didn’t deny you. He died publicly on the cross for you. “So now Jesus and the ones he makes holy have the same Father. That is why Jesus is not ashamed to call them his brothers and sisters.” Jesus is not ashamed of you. He claims you as part of his family if you have repented of your sins and trusted him for salvation.
But here’s a question: Because of your fear of disapproval, have you been ashamed of Jesus? Remember, one day you will give an account to him, and Jesus has said, “If anyone is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his glory.” Will Jesus be ashamed of you one day because you were ashamed of him?
Remember that God shaped me to be me, not somebody else. This is the final truth to hold on to. Earlier in this book I mentioned that when you get to heaven, God isn’t going to say, “Why weren’t you more like your brother or your mother or father?” God isn’t going to ask, “Were you popular? Did everyone like you, and did you fulfill all their expectations?” No. God is going to say, “Did you fulfill the purpose I created you for?”

Thinking about My Purpose
POINT TO PONDER: Happiness is my choice. I don’t need anyone’s approval to be happy.
VERSE TO REMEMBER: “Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord will hold me close.” PSALM 27:10 (NLT)
QUESTION TO CONSIDER: Whose opinion matters most to me? Whose approval am I living for?
