STAND STRONG FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS

And Nebuchadnezzar said to them, “Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the image of gold I have set up?”
—DANIEL 3:14

King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon wanted three young Hebrew men—Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego—to worship his gods and a golden image he had set up. They refused, because to do so would be disobedient to God. Nebuchadnezzar became so angry that he threatened to throw them into a fiery furnace and kill them.

They were not intimidated. In fact, they said, “If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up” (Daniel 3:17–18).

Because they did not back down, Nebuchadnezzar did throw the young men into the furnace, and God did deliver them, just as they had said. The three young men stood strong for righteousness in the face of a terrible threat. Many times, people cower in the face of threats and intimidation. They are afraid of the consequences they will face if they obey God and stand up for what is right.

I encourage you to live with a reverential fear and respect of the Lord, determined to honor Him at all times and to trust Him in every situation. Refuse to compromise, don’t be intimidated, and stand strong for righteousness, knowing that God never fails.

Prayer:
“Father, help me to stand strong for righteousness and remain loyal to You in every situation. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
