Si hacemos lo que sea con la esperanza de obtener recompensa o para agradar a la gente, con frecuencia seremos decepcionados. Muchas personas suelen dar por sentado lo que los demás hacen por ellas o las bendiciones que reciben. Forma parte de la naturaleza humana. Si nos sentimos frustrados o enojados porque la gente no aprecia lo que hacemos por ella, perdemos el tiempo. La carne (la naturaleza humana sin la presencia de Dios) siempre va a decepcionarnos de una u otra manera. Sin embargo, a quien si debemos esforzarnos por servir, es a Jesús. Él nunca nos decepciona y la única verdadera recompensa que recibimos viene de él y nadie más.
Si estás molesto porque no recibiste el aprecio que crees que mereces, tómalo como una señal de que necesitas hacer ajustes con relación a qué te motiva a servir a otros. Sírvelos exclusivamente para agradar a Dios. Confía en que él va a recompensarte y que lo hará en el momento preciso. Hasta entonces, siéntete feliz de servir a Dios por el amor que le tienes y para manifestar tu gratitud por todo lo que él ha hecho por ti.
Oración:
“Padre, aprecio todo lo que has hecho por mí en y a través de Jesús. Es mi placer servirte. No me debes nada, pero yo te debo todo, por tanto, las recompensas que recibo de ti son un regalo que recibo, no algo que merezca. En el nombre de Jesús. Amén”.
SERVE GOD, NOT OTHER PEOPLE
Whatever may be your task, work at it heartily (from the soul), as [something done] for the Lord and not for men.

If we do what we do hoping to get a reward of gratitude or appreciation from people, we may often be disappointed. Many people have a tendency to take for granted the things that others do to serve or bless them. This is part of human nature. If we become frustrated or angry because people don’t tend to appreciate what we do for them, we waste our time. The flesh (human nature without God) will always disappoint us in some way or another. But there is one person—Jesus—we should serve with all of our efforts. He never disappoints us, and our true reward comes from Him alone.
If and when you find yourself becoming angry or bitter because you have not received the appreciation you feel you deserve, take it as a sign that you need to adjust your motive for your service to others. Serve them only for God and to please Him alone. Trust Him to bring whatever reward He has for you and to do it at the right time. Until then, be content to serve God because of your love for Him and in gratitude for what He has done for you.
Prayer:
“Father, I do appreciate all that You have done for me in and through Jesus. It is my pleasure to serve You. You owe me nothing, but I owe You everything; therefore, whatever reward I receive is a gift from You, not something I deserve. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
