Bendito el varón que confía en Jehová, y cuya confianza es Jehová. Porque será como el árbol plantado junto a las aguas, que junto a la corriente echará sus raíces, y no verá cuando viene el calor, sino que su hoja estará verde; y en el año de sequía no se fatigará, ni dejará de dar fruto.
—JEREMÍAS 17:7-8
El versículo de hoy dice que aquel que confía en el Señor nunca “dejará de dar fruto”, lo que significa que será siempre productivo. Esto me recuerda lo que dijo Dios cuando creó al hombre: “Fructificad y multiplicaos” (Génesis 1:28). Claramente la productividad es importante para él y los creyentes tendrán vidas productivas. En ocasiones, esto significa que requerimos ser “podados”.
Piensa en un árbol. Para que un árbol sea productivo o fructífero, debe ser apropiadamente podado. En otras palabras, algunas ramas deben ser taladas o recortadas en determinados puntos. Solo de esta manera el árbol se mantendrá fuerte, sano y producirá la máxima cantidad de frutos de calidad.
Igual que los árboles deben ser recortados, nosotros debemos ser podados también. Algunas cosas deben eliminarse de nuestras vidas en momentos estratégicos. Podar puede significar dejar ese hábito que evita que cumplamos nuestro potencial, o nos disuade de cumplir con el plan de Dios para nuestras vidas. Puede ser descontinuar patrones malsanos. O tal vez, terminar con relaciones dañinas bajo la guía del Señor.
Dios es el Maestro Jardinero y él solo poda para producir frutos saludables. Permítele podar tu vida de acuerdo con su sabiduría y pronto disfrutarás un nuevo nivel de fertilidad y productividad.

“Padre, te pido que podes de mi vida todo aquello que necesite ser cortado, para nunca fallar produciendo buen fruto. En el nombre de Jesús. Amén”.
NECESSARY PRUNING
But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.
—JEREMIAH 17:7–8
Today’s scripture says the person who trusts the Lord “never fails to bear fruit,” meaning that they are productive time after time. This reminds me of what God said when He first created mankind: “Be fruitful and increase in number” (Genesis 1:28). Clearly, this idea of fruitfulness is important to Him, and believers are to live fruitful lives. At times, this means we will need to be “pruned.”
Think about a tree. For a tree to be most productive or fruitful, it must be pruned appropriately. In other words, some branches need to be cut off or trimmed back at certain points. That’s the only way the tree will stay strong, remain healthy, and produce the maximum amount of quality fruit.
As trees need pruning, we need pruning too. Certain things need to be cut off of our lives at strategic times. Pruning may mean quitting a habit that is keeping us from realizing our full potential or deterring us from God’s plan for our lives. It may mean discontinuing unhealthy patterns. Or it may mean drawing unhealthy relationships to a close as God leads.
God is the Master Gardener, and He only prunes in order to produce healthy fruit. Allow Him to prune your life according to His wisdom, and you will enjoy a new level of fruitfulness and productivity.
Prayer:
“Father, I ask You to prune from my life everything that needs to be cut off, so I may never fail to bear good fruit. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
