Gracias. En el nombre de Jesús. Amén”.
THE NEED TO KNOW
For with much wisdom comes much sorrow; the more knowledge, the more grief.
—ECCLESIASTES 1:18
Have you ever worked to find out a piece of information and, once you succeeded, wished you hadn’t discovered it? Being nosy is not a good trait, because the more we know, the more grief we may feel, according to Solomon in today’s scripture.
For example, I found out that people were saying unkind things about me, and I really wished that no one had told me about them. It is amazing how happy we can be not knowing certain things, especially things that make us sad or cause us to worry.
Sometimes people say, “I can’t give you that information. It is on a need-to-know basis only.” Perhaps God wants to work with us this way. He will let us know what we truly need to know, but we would be wise to leave the rest of it alone. Learn to be happy not knowing, and trust God to inform you of things you need to know when the time is right.
Prayer:
“Father, help me to be satisfied to know what I need to know. And help me never to waste my time trying to find out things I don’t need to know. Thank You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”.
