Así ha dicho el Señor: «No debe el sabio vanagloriarse por ser sabio, ni jactarse el valiente por ser valiente, ni presumir el rico por ser rico. Quien se quiera vanagloriar, que se vanaglorie de entenderme y conocerme. Porque yo soy el Señor».

¿A quién admiras? ¿A un asombroso guitarrista? ¿Un patinador de velocidad? ¿A un actor que hace todo tipo de escenas peligrosas? ¿A un oficial militar altamente condecorado? ¿A un ingenioso desarrollador de juegos para computadora?
Admiramos a personas que poseen maravillosos talentos del Señor y que los usan de maneras asombrosas, como su inteligencia, su talento musical, su velocidad o su dinero. Nadie puede negar que los mejores de los mejores sean envidiables cuando usan sus dones para la gloria de Dios.
Todo el mundo admira los dones y las aptitudes especiales. Sin embargo, esas cosas no les pertenecen a las personas que las poseen. Dios es el propietario de los talentos, las aptitudes y las capacidades, y quien las concede. Da de forma diferente a cada persona para sus propios propósitos.
En lugar de idolatrar a la persona a la que admiras, deja que sea un recordatorio de lo asombroso que es Dios. En lugar de centrarte en la persona, céntrate en el don divino que se le ha concedido.
Es probable que otros te admiren algún día por algo maravilloso que hagas. Cuando recibas elogios, recuerda que tu talento es un don de Dios. Orienta a otros hacia él y dale las gracias por lo que te ha dado.
Oración
Señor, gracias porque has dado aptitudes especiales que ayudarán o beneficiarán a otros ahora o en el futuro. Recuérdame tus dones y que oriente a otros hacia ti.
Day 364 – Focus on the Giver
This is what the LORD says: “Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know me, that I am the LORD.”
(JEREMIAH 9:23–24A)
Who do you admire? An amazing guitarist? A speed skater? An actor who does all kinds of stunts? A highly decorated military officer? A genius computer game developer?
We admire people who have wonderful talents from the Lord and who use them in wonderful ways, like their smarts, musical talent, speed, or money. No one can deny that the best of the best are enviable when they use their gifts for the glory of God.
Everyone admires special gifts and skills. But those things don’t belong to the person who possesses them. God is the owner and grantor of talents, skills, and abilities. He gives differently to each person for his own purposes.
Instead of being in awe of the person you admire, let it be a reminder of how amazing God is. Rather than focusing on the person, focus on God’s gift to them. Others will probably admire you some day for something wonderful you do. When you receive praise, remember that your talent is a gift from God. Point others to him, and thank him for what he’s given you.
Prayer
Lord, thank you that you’ve given special skills that will help or benefit others now or in the future. Remind me of your gifts and to point others to you.
