Wayne Gretsky, «El Grande» de la Liga Nacional de Hockey, ha sido el único jugador de ese deporte que marcó más de doscientos puntos en una sola temporada. Y Babe Ruth bateó setecientos catorce home runs en sus veintiún años como jugador de béisbol.
Cuando juegan deportistas profesionales, cada movimiento pasa a los libros de registro. ¿Pero sabías que los seguidores de Cristo tienen su propio conjunto de «estadísticas» y «registros»?
No puedes ver estos números inscritos en un trofeo ni exhibidos en una página web. En lugar de datos físicos, los cristianos tienen a personas. Cuando vivimos para glorificar a Dios, la gente lo nota.
Ven que somos diferentes en lo positivo.
Por supuesto, el cristianismo no es una competición; no se trata de cuántas personas llevamos a la iglesia o a cuántas le damos testimonio. Pero las vidas que tocamos son mucho más duraderas que un conjunto de cifras deportivas. Las personas a las que les presentamos a Jesús son eternas, mientras que los registros son temporales.

Señor, a veces olvido que llevar a otros a ti debería ser mi meta suprema. Te ruego que me ayudes a escribir mi vida «no con tinta, sino con el Espíritu del Dios vivo».
Day 361 – Eternal Records
You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone. You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.

Sports and statistics go together like peanut butter and jelly. Thanks to behind-the-scenes stats keepers, we know that Mia Hamm scored 158 international goals—more than any other player, male or female, in the history of US soccer. Wayne Gretsky, NHL’s “The Great One,” has been the only hockey player to score more than two hundred points in one season. And Babe Ruth slugged 714 home runs over his nearly twenty-one-year baseball career.
Whenever professional athletes play, their every movement goes into the record books. But did you know that Christ-followers have their own set of “statistics” and “record books”?
You can’t see these numbers inscribed on a trophy or displayed on a website. Instead of physical data, Christians have people. When we live to glorify God, people notice. They see that we are different in a good way.
Of course, Christianity isn’t a contest; it’s not about how many people we take to church or witness to. But the lives we touch are far more lasting than a set of sports figures. People who we introduce to Jesus are eternal, while records are temporary.
Prayer
Lord, sometimes I forget that leading others to you should be my top goal. Will you help write my life “not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God”?
