Hijo de hombre, supongamos que los habitantes de un país pecaran contra mí y yo alzara mi puño para aplastarlos al cortarles la provisión de alimento y al hacerles pasar un hambre que destruyera tanto a personas como a animales. Aunque Noé, Daniel y Job estuvieran allí, su justicia los salvaría solo a ellos y no a ningún otro, dice el SEÑOR Soberano. (EZEQUIEL 14.13–14, NTV)
Noé, Daniel y Job son tres de los hombres más piadosos que jamás hayan existido. Dos de ellos tienen un libro con su nombre en la Biblia. Los tres fueron ejemplos de piedad entonces y también hoy. Dios afirma que eran justos —lo que significa que vivieron de acuerdo a los mandamientos de Dios— y él quedó impresionado.
De modo que si estos hombres oraban por ti o le pedían a Dios que salvara tu vida, puedes apostar que él consideraría su petición. Sin embargo, esta vez en el libro de Ezequiel, Dios declara que ni siquiera los más piadosos y justos podrían salvar a Israel de la destrucción. ¡Y es que no había nadie así! Los israelitas se habían vuelto extremadamente malos y estaban en contra de Dios.
Nuestro país necesita personas que vivan de acuerdo a lo que Dios manda. Nuestro ejemplo de vivir una vida buena y piadosa mantiene a Dios presente en nuestro vecindario. Nuestras palabras pueden orientar a otros a su amor y su gracia. Mientras que haya gente justa, Dios escuchará nuestras oraciones y seguirá ofreciendo su gracia a los impíos que nos rodean.
Oración
Señor, haz que yo pueda ser una luz para quienes me rodean. Permite que ellos vean tu amor y tu bondad a través de mí.
Day 349 – Keeping God in the Neighborhood
Son of man, if a country sins against me by being unfaithful and I stretch out my hand against it to cut off its food supply and send famine upon it and kill its people and their animals, even if these three men—Noah, Daniel and Job—were in it, they could save only themselves by their righteousness, declares the Sovereign Lord.
(EZEKIEL 14:13–14)
Noah, Daniel, and Job—three of the most godly men ever. Two of them have books named after them in the Bible. All three of them were godly examples back then and today. God says they were righteous—that means they lived right—and God was impressed.
So if these guys prayed on your behalf or asked God to spare your life, you can bet that God would consider their request. But this time in Ezekiel, God said not even the most godly, righteous people could save Israel from destruction. Because there were none! The Israelites had become extremely evil and anti-God.
Our country needs right-living people. Our example of living a good and godly life keeps God present in our neighborhoods. Our words can point others to his love and grace. As long as there are righteous people, God will hear our prayers and continue to offer his grace to the ungodly around us.
Prayer
Lord, may I be a light to people around me. Let them see your love and goodness through me.
