Jamás llegaré a compararme con los que hablan bien de sí mismos. Compararse con uno mismo es una tontería.

¿Recuerdas algún momento en que compararas tu aspecto con el de una amiga o hermana? Crecemos comparándolo todo: la apariencia, las notas, los deportes y otros talentos. Sin embargo, Dios afirma que este tipo de comparaciones son necias.
¿Por qué es absurdo compararte con los demás? ¡Porque eres incomparable! Y lo mismo ocurre con todas las personas. Dios nos hizo a cada uno «según su especie». Además, la comparación conduce al orgullo o a la envidia. Siempre puedes descubrir a alguien que te parezca inferior a ti y esto se denomina orgullo. Y siempre habrá personas que en tu opinión lo estén haciendo mejor que tú, y esto es una trampa ideal para la envidia. No importa quién sea mejor. Lo que de verdad es relevante es que estés haciendo aquello para lo que Dios te creó. ¿Estás sacando el mejor partido de lo que se te ha dado?
Dios no te juzga por los talentos de los que no dispones ni por las oportunidades con las que no cuentas. Él evalúa tu fidelidad según tu forma de vivir con aquello que él te concedió. ¿Acabarás, pues, con esa costumbre de compararte con los demás?
Oración
Señor, me hiciste maravillosamente única, y a todos los demás también. Ayúdame a apreciar los puntos fuertes de otras personas sin compararme con ellas.
Day 333 – No Comparisons
We won’t dare compare ourselves with those who think so much of themselves. But they are foolish to compare themselves with themselves.
(2 CORINTHIANS 10:12, CEV)
Can you think of a time when you compared your looks to a friend or a sibling? We grow up comparing everything: appearance, grades, athletics, and other talents. But God says such comparisons are foolish.
Why is it foolish to compare yourself with others? Because you are incomparable! So is everyone else. God made each of us “one of a kind.” Besides, comparing leads to pride or jealousy. You can always find someone you think you’re better than—this is called pride. And you will always find people who you think are doing better than you—an easy setup for envy. It doesn’t matter who’s better off. It matters that you are doing what God created you to do. Are you making the most of what you’ve been given?
God doesn’t judge you for talents you don’t have or for opportunities you didn’t get. He evaluates your faithfulness by how you lived with what he gave you. So are you going to break the habit of comparing yourself to others?
Prayer
God, you made me wonderfully unique, and you made everyone else wonderfully unique! Help me appreciate other people’s strengths without comparing myself to them.
