¿No seas envidioso? Es más fácil de decir que de hacer. En ocasiones, el sentimiento llega y nos sorprende. Vemos a otra niña traviesa o malvada, que se sale con la suya. Nada malo parece suceder. Es feliz. Parece gozar de toda la diversión o la popularidad. Mientras tanto es como si nosotros estuviéramos atascados siguiendo todo un conjunto de normas que no son en absoluto entretenidas.
Tarde o temprano la envidia aparece. Sin embargo, tenemos que recordar unas cuantas cosas. En primer lugar, las malas decisiones que otros niños toman pueden parecer divertidas en el momento, pero por lo general no lo son a largo plazo. En segundo lugar, Dios no quiere que nos preocupemos por otros que actúan mal. Él se ocupará de ellos en su tiempo. Además, él no está buscando quitarnos ninguna diversión. Todo lo que nos pide que hagamos es por una buena razón. Dios es como una madre sabia que no le permitiría a su hijo ponerse delante de un gran camión; él da las reglas para que las cosas desordenadas de la vida no nos atropellen.
Por tanto, la próxima vez que la envida se deslice en nosotros, recuerda que Dios está atento a ti. Olvídate de los que están obrando mal y se van sin consecuencias. No durará.
Oración
Señor, en ocasiones quiero hacer cosas que los demás niños están haciendo, aun sabiendo que no están bien. No obstante, no quiero perjudicarme a largo plazo. Ayúdame a hacer elecciones que te agraden. Creo que tienes buenas cosas para mí, más adelante.
Day 328 – Creeping In
Do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong.
(PSALM 37:1)
Don’t be envious? That’s easier said than done. Sometimes the feeling just sneaks up. We see another kid who is nasty or mean, and she gets away with it. Nothing bad seems to happen. She’s happy. She seems to have all the fun or the popularity. Meanwhile it feels like we’re stuck following a whole lot of rules that don’t feel fun.
Sooner or later, envy sneaks up on us. But we have to remember a few things. First, the bad choices other kids make may seem fun in the moment, but they usually don’t work out in the long run. Second, God doesn’t want us to worry about others doing wrong. He’ll take care of them in time. Plus, he isn’t looking to rob us of fun. Anything he asks us to do, he asks for a good reason. God is just like a smart mom who would stop her child from running out in front of a big truck; he sets up rules so that we won’t get run over by the messy things in life.
So next time envy creeps up, remind yourself that God is looking out for you. Forget about those who are doing wrong and getting away with it. It won’t last.
Prayer
Lord, sometimes I want to do things that other kids are doing even though I know they are wrong. But I don’t want to hurt myself in the long run. Help me to make choices that will please you. I believe you have good things ahead for me.
