¿Qué es más importante que tener talento, capacidades extraordinarias o una gran educación? La fe, creer que Dios obrará por medio de ti. He conocido a personas supertalentosas que están sentadas en el banquillo fuera del campo de juego mientras que gente corriente con fe están haciendo los touchdowns. Creen a Dios y por ello él los usa. Como Jabes, solo son personas ordinarias con una fe extraordinaria.
Al parecer, Jabes padecía algún tipo de minusvalía o discapacidad. En la lengua hebrea, Jabes significa doloroso. Le causó tanto dolor a su madre durante el alumbramiento que ella le puso por nombre Doloroso. ¿Te gustaría llamarte Doloroso? «Mira, por ahí viene Doloroso», o «Allí está el viejo Doloroso». Tal vez no fuera un bebé querido ni amado. Su nombre le recordaba constantemente que hasta su nacimiento causó dolor. Pero la fe de Jabes hizo que siguiera adelante. Creyó que Dios lo ayudaría a conseguir sus metas y sus sueños.
Oración
Señor, quiero ser alguien a quien uses para hacer cosas extraordinarias. Te ruego que guíes mi vida, porque sé que tus planes para mí son mayores de los que yo puedo imaginar.
Day 323 – Touchdown Faith
Jabez was more honorable than his brothers, and his mother named him Jabez saying, “Because I bore him with pain.”

What’s more important than being talented, having strong abilities, or a great education? Faith—believing that God will work through you. I’ve met many super-talented people who are sitting on the sidelines while ordinary people with faith are making the touchdowns. They believe God, so he uses them. Like Jabez, they are just ordinary people with extraordinary faith.
Jabez apparently had some type of handicap or disability. In the Hebrew language Jabez means painful. Jabez caused his mother so much grief during childbirth that she named him Painful. How would you like to be named Painful? “Here comes Painful,” or “There’s old Painful over there.” He may have been unwanted and unloved. His name constantly reminded him that even his birth caused grief. But Jabez’s faith kept him going. He believed God would help him with his goals and his dreams.
Prayer
God, I want to be someone you use to do extraordinary things. Please guide my life, because I know you have greater plans for me than I can imagine.
