Jesús tomó entonces los panes, dio gracias y distribuyó a los que estaban sentados todo lo que quisieron. Lo mismo hizo con los pescados. Una vez que quedaron satisfechos, dijo a sus discípulos: Recojan los pedazos que sobraron, para que no se desperdicie nada. Así lo hicieron, y con los pedazos de los cinco panes de cebada que les sobraron a los que habían comido, llenaron doce canastas.

«¡Yo invito!», anunció Jesús. Los discípulos estaban un poco confusos. Lo único que veían era el pequeño almuerzo de un niño. En un instante, Jesús no solo se ocupó de la comida; también invitó a todos a un banquete. Todos comieron tanto pescado y pan (piensa en las hamburguesas y las patatas fritas de hoy) como quisieron. Sencillamente, la comida seguía llegando. Tenían tanto que tuvieron que llevarse a casa las sobras.
Dios es un gran Dios. Sus provisiones son ilimitadas. De modo que cuando Dios se ocupa de una necesidad, le gusta dar más de lo que pedimos. Le encanta ser generoso con las bendiciones. No es tacaño. Nos da más de lo que necesitamos. Sin embargo, en ocasiones, podemos confundirnos con lo que de verdad necesitamos. Queremos cosas y exigimos que Dios nos de aquello que deseamos. Pero él sabe más y cuidará de nosotros mejor que nosotros mismos.
Oración
Jesús, tú conoces las necesidades que mi familia tiene en estos momentos. Necesitamos de verdad que proveas para nosotros de una forma abundante. Creo que eres lo suficientemente grande y que nos darás aquello que precisamos. Gracias.
Day 319 – A Little for a Lot
Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish. When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.” So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten.
(JOHN 6:11−13)
“Lunch is on me!” Jesus said. The disciples were a bit confused. All they saw was one kid’s little lunch. In an instant, Jesus didn’t just take care of lunch; he also treated everyone to a feast. Everyone ate as much fish and bread (think hamburgers and French fries today) as they wanted. The food just kept coming. They had so much they had to bring home the leftovers.
God is a big God. His supplies are endless. So when God takes care of a need, he loves to give more than we ask for. He loves to be generous with blessings. He is not stingy. He gives more than what we need. Sometimes, though, we can get confused about what we actually need. We want things and demand that God give us what we want. But he knows best and will take care of us better than we could ourselves.
Prayer
Jesus, you know the needs my family has right now. We really need you to provide for us in a big way. I believe you are big enough and will give us what we need. Thank you.
