Y Jabés invocó al Dios de Israel. Dijo: «¡Cómo quisiera que me des tu bendición, que ensanches mi territorio, que tu mano esté conmigo y que me libres del mal, para que no sufra yo ningún daño!». Y Dios le concedió lo que pidió.

Jabés es conocido por una breve oración, pero su petición es una excelente demostración sobre llevar nuestras peticiones a Dios. Jabés pidió más territorio, pero también la presencia de Dios en su vida. Se dio cuenta de que si obtenía más terreno, esto significaría que tendría más responsabilidades. Contaría con mayores exigencias y más presión. Necesitaría realmente la ayuda de Dios, así que pidió que Dios estuviera con él. Cuando pides la presencia de Dios en tu vida, puedes estar seguro de que él contestará.
Jabés también oró para tener protección divina. ¿Por qué lo hizo? En aquellos días, cuanta más tierra se tenía, mayor influencia y más conocido se era. Y esto lo convertía a uno en un blanco mayor.
Sigue siendo así hoy en día: cuanto más éxito tienes, con más críticas cuentas. Cuanto más cerca estás del Señor y más fuerte te vuelves como cristiano, más te acosará el diablo, porque no quiere que crezcas. No obstante, puedes estar tan seguro como Jabés de que con la bendición, Dios también concede su presencia y su protección.
Oración
Señor, me alegra poder contar con que estarás conmigo. Cuando no creo poder manejar algo por mí mismo, te ruego que me muestres que estás conmigo.
Day 300 – Notable Pray-er
Now Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my border, and that Your hand might be with me, and that You would keep me from harm that it may not pain me!” And God granted him what he requested.

Jabez is known for a short prayer, but his request shows a lot about taking requests to God. Jabez asked for more land, but he also asked for God’s presence in his life. Jabez realized that if he got more land, it meant he would have more responsibility. He would have greater demands and more pressure. He would really need God’s help, so he requested that God be with him. Whenever you ask for God’s presence in your life, you can be sure he will answer.
Jabez also prayed for God’s protection. Why did he do that? In those days, the more land you had, the more influence you had, and the better known you were. And that made you a bigger target.
It Is still like that today: the more successful you are, the more critics you have. The closer you grow to the Lord and the stronger you become as a Christian, the more the Devil will harass you, because he doesn’t want you to grow. But you can be sure, as Jabez was, that with God’s blessing, he also gives his presence and protection.
Prayer
God, I’m glad I can count on you being with me. When I don’t think I can handle something by myself, will you show me you’re with me?
