Bien le va al que presta con generosidad, y maneja sus negocios con justicia. El justo será siempre recordado.

¿Quién ganó la Súper Copa MVP hace dos años? ¿Quién se llevó el oscar como mejor actor o por los efectos especiales hace cinco años? A menos que tengas la capacidad de un dispositivo de memoria (USB) infinito, lo más probable es que no sepas contestar.
Todas las personas quieren ser recordadas. Algunos intentan lograr este legado llegando a ser famosos. Creen que si su nombre está por todas partes, en la televisión, la radio y la Internet, serán felices. ¡A pesar de ello, basta con una mirada a algunos actores o atletas profesionales para ver que son todo menos felices!
Otros intentan el camino de la riqueza, suponiendo que cuanto más dinero posean, más paz tendrán. Si esto fuera cierto, los ricos no se divorciarían jamás ni cometerían delitos ni recurrirían al alcohol o a las drogas. Pero sabemos que no ocurre así.
De modo que si no es la fama ni la fortuna, ¿cuál es el secreto para dejar tu huella en este mundo? La Biblia afirma que es bastante sencillo: ser justo y generoso. Es fantástico esforzarse en un deporte, un instrumento, un talento o en los asuntos de la escuela. Ninguna de estas cosas te proporcionará, sin embargo, un legado duradero. ¿Qué me dices de pasar tu vida dando y sirviendo a los demás? Eso sí que lo hará. Y Dios lo recordará siempre.
Oración
Señor, dar con generosidad y vivir con justicia no es algo que se produzca de forma natural. Sin embargo, así es como tú me tratas; jamás retienes nada de mí. Te ruego que me muestres cómo hacer lo mismo para marcar la diferencia en este mundo.
Day 288 – Something That Lasts
Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely, who conduct their affairs with justice. Surely the righteous will never be shaken; they will be remembered forever.
(PSALM 112:5–6)
Who won the Super Bowl MVP two years ago? Who took home the Oscar for Best Actor or Special Effects five years ago? Unless you have a memory like an infinite thumb drive, you probably don’t know. Everyone wants to be remembered. Some people try to achieve this legacy through becoming famous. They think if their name is all over TV, radio, and the Internet, they will be happy. Yet all it takes is one look at some actors and pro athletes to see that they’re anything but happy!
Other people try the route of wealth, assuming that more money means more peace. If that were true, then wealthy people would never get divorced, commit crimes, or turn to alcohol or drugs. But we know that’s not true.
So if it’s not fame or fortune, what’s the secret to leaving your mark on this world? The Bible says it’s quite simple: be righteous and generous. It’s great to work hard at a sport, instrument, talent, or school subject. None of those things, however, will give you a lasting legacy. But spending your life giving to and serving others? Now that will. And God will always remember it.
Prayer
Giving generously and living rightly doesn’t come naturally, God. But that’s how you treat me; you never withhold anything. Please show me how to do the same to make a difference in this world.
