Estén vestidos, listos para servir y mantengan las lámparas encendidas, como si esperaran el regreso de su amo de la fiesta de bodas. Entonces estarán listos para abrirle la puerta y dejarlo entrar en el momento que llegue y llame.

Pongamos que tu mejor amiga te invita a escalar una roca o a practicar kárate con ella. ¿Irías en pijama? De ninguna manera. Le pedirías a tu madre o tu padre que te ayudara a escoger la ropa y el equipo adecuados. Necesitarías un arnés, zapatos de escalar y cuerdas para escalada. Para el kárate precisarías el equipo protector y agua (¡es un ejercicio muy duro!).
Sabes que ciertas actividades requieren una preparación y el equipo adecuado. Vivir para Jesús también exige que estés dispuesto. Él afirmó que volvería a la tierra un día para llevarse a todos sus seguidores al cielo. No le comentó a nadie cuándo tendría lugar su venida. Lo que sí aconsejó fue: «Estén preparados». Estar listos o dispuestos significa despertar cada día y pedirle a Dios que te dirija. Tal vez tenga un trabajo para ti ese día, o quizás te necesite para que ayudes a otra persona. Cada vez que estés dispuesto a hacer algo para Dios, es una oportunidad para que otros sepan acerca de él. Es posible que después, también quieran seguir a Jesús y sentir entusiasmo por su regreso a la tierra… cuandoquiera que sea.
Oración
Jesús, ¿qué significa realmente estar preparado para tu regreso a la tierra? Resulta difícil de comprender, porque nadie que esté vivo en la actualidad te ha visto jamás. Quiero estar dispuesto para ti, para cualquier cosa que me pidas. Te ruego que me muestres cómo hacerlo.
Day 282 – Ready to Serve
Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him.
(LUKE 12:35−36)
Say your best friend calls to invite you to rock climb or go to karate with her. Would you go in your pajamas? No way. You’d ask your mom or dad to help you find the right clothes and gear. You’d need a harness, climbing shoes, and ropes to climb the rocks. For karate, you’d need some safety pads and water (it’s a tough workout!).
You know that certain activities require preparation and the right equipment. Living for Jesus also requires you to be ready. Jesus said that he will come back to Earth one day to take all his followers to Heaven. He didn’t tell anyone when that would be. But he said, “Be ready.” Being ready means waking up each day and asking God to lead you. He may have a job for you to do that day, or he may need you to help someone out. Each time you are ready to do something for God, it lets others know about him. Then hopefully, they will want to follow Jesus too and be excited for his return to Earth—whenever that may be.
Prayer
Jesus, what does it really mean to be ready for your return to Earth? That’s hard to understand, because no one living today has ever seen you. I want to be ready for you, whatever you ask of me. Please show me how to do that.
