Pero es el Espíritu Santo mismo el que hace todo esto, y el que decide qué capacidad darle a cada uno.

Dios le da dones espirituales a cada miembro de su familia. No puedes ganártelos ni merecerlos; ¡por eso se les llama dones! Tampoco puedes escoger qué dones te gustaría tener; Dios determina el tipo de dones que recibes. Son capacidades especiales empoderadas por Dios para que lo sirvas y que solo se les otorgan a los cristianos. Entre ellos se encuentran la sabiduría, la enseñanza, la fe, la sanidad, las lenguas especiales, la profecía, la predicación y el discernimiento.
A Dios le encanta la variedad y quiere que seamos especiales, y por ello no le da un único don a cada persona, como tampoco un único ser humano los recibe todos. Si los poseyeras todos, no necesitarías a nadie más. Eso frustraría uno de los propósitos divinos: enseñarnos a amar y a depender los unos de los otros.
La Biblia declara: «Cuando el Espíritu Santo nos da alguna capacidad especial, lo hace para que procuremos el bien de los demás.» (1 Corintios 12.7, TLA). Si otros no usan sus dones, te están engañando. Y si tú no utilizas los tuyos, son ellos los engañados. Por tanto, Dios quiere que descubras y desarrolles tus propios dones espirituales. Un regalo (don) que no se abre no sirve para nada. Pídele que te muestres qué dones son tuyos.
Oración
Señor, resulta fácil desear tener los dones de otras personas. Revélame los que me has otorgado a mí, y muéstrame de qué manera puedo usarlos para tu propósito.
Day 275 • Open Up Your Gifts!
It is the same and only Holy Spirit who gives all these gifts and powers, deciding which each one of us should have.

God gives spiritual gifts to every member of his family. You can’t earn your spiritual gifts or deserve them—that’s why they are called gifts! Neither do you get to choose which gifts you’d like to have; God determines the type of gifts you get. These are special God-empowered abilities for serving him that are given only to Christians. They include things like wisdom, teaching, faith, healing, special languages, prophecy, preaching, and discernment.
God loves variety, and he wants us to be special, so no single gift is given to everyone, and no one person gets all the gifts. If you had them all, you wouldn’t need anyone else. That would defeat one of God’s purposes—to teach us to love and depend on each other.
The Bible says, “The Holy Spirit displays God’s power through each of us as a means of helping the entire church” (1 Corinthians 12:7, TLB). If others don’t use their gifts, you get cheated. And if you don’t use your gifts, they get cheated. So God wants you to discover and develop your spiritual gifts. An unopened gift is worthless. Ask him to show you which gifts are yours.
Prayer
Lord, it’s easy to wish I had other people’s gifts. Reveal to me the gifts you’ve given me, and show me ways I can use them for your purpose.
