Y así se cumpliera la palabra del SEÑOR por medio del profeta Jeremías… Por tanto, cualquiera que pertenezca a Judá, vaya a Jerusalén a construir el templo del SEÑOR.

Dulce y agrio. Viejo y nuevo. Negro y blanco. Son opuestos; poseen aquello con lo que el otro no cuenta. En ocasiones, los opuestos se complementan o combinan para crear algo nuevo, como el color gris que procede de la mezcla del negro y el blanco.
Sin embargo, algunos opuestos no pueden ir juntos. Como el aceite y el agua, o un ateo y una escuela cristiana. No obstante, Dios usa cualquier cosa que le parezca y a cualquiera que se le antoje.
Los israelitas estaban en cautividad bajo el rey Ciro. No esperaban que él fuera aquel que los dejaría volver a casa y reconstruir el templo de Dios. Él era la elección menos probable. En el mundo de Dios —y todo es el mundo de Dios— él escoge a quién, el qué, el cuándo, el dónde, el por qué y el cómo.
Podríamos pensar con facilidad que por no ser alguien piadoso, Dios no puede usar a esa persona en nuestra vida. O tal vez podríamos pensar que una tragedia o una crisis no forma parte de la voluntad de Dios. Ese no es, en absoluto, el caso. Dios es el máximo gobernador. Todo, todos los opuestos, están bajo su control.
Oración
Señor, no puedo comprender cómo puedes convertir el mal en bien o usar algo difícil para bien. Sin embargo, creo que es tu mundo y sé que tus normas se encargan de todo. Por tanto, confiaré en ti para que uses cualquier cosa que quieras utilizar en mi vida.
Day 249 • Ruler of Everything
In order to fulfill the word of the LORD spoken by Jeremiah, the LORD moved the heart of Cyrus king of Persia to make a proclamation … “Any of his people among you may go up to Jerusalem in Judah and build the temple of the LORD.”
(EZRA 1:1B, 3A)
Sweet and sour. Old and new. Black and white. Opposites—they possess what the other does not have. Opposites sometimes complement each other, or combine to create something new, like the color gray coming from a mix of black and white.
Some opposites, though, don’t go together. Like oil and water or an atheist and a Christian school. But that’s not a problem for God. God uses whatever he wants and whomever he wants.
The Israelites were in captivity under King Cyrus. They didn’t expect him to be the one to let them go home and rebuild a temple to God. He was the least likely choice. In God’s world—and it is all God’s world—he chooses who, what, when, where, why, and how.
We could easily think that because someone isn’t godly, God can’t use that person in our lives. Or we may think that a tragedy or crisis isn’t part of God’s will. That’s not the case at all. God is the ultimate ruler. Everything, all the opposites, are under his control.
Prayer
I cannot understand, Lord, how you can turn evil into good or use something hard for good. But I believe it is your world, and I know your rules are in charge of everything. So I will trust you to use whatever you want to use in my life
