De cierto, de cierto les digo que, si el grano de trigo no cae en la tierra y muere, se queda solo; pero si muere, lleva mucho fruto. (JUAN 12.24, RVC)
Dios toma dos días para hacer champiñones, pero requiere sesenta años para formar una encina. ¿Quieres ser un champiñón o una encina? El crecimiento se toma su tiempo.
Cuando examinas tu crecimiento, tal vez te preguntes: «¿Por qué me está llevando tanto tiempo? Nota lo que dijo Jesús en Juan 12.24. Hablaba de su muerte, pero también se aplica a nosotros. Cuando afirma «Ciertamente les aseguro» quiere decir «¡Entiendan esto! ¡Sintonícense! Esto es realmente importante».
La idea que Jesús estaba exponiendo es que la muerte precede la vida. Así como el grano de trigo debe morir para producir fruto, nosotros también debemos morir a nuestro propio egoísmo para ver el crecimiento. No obstante, nos gusta cavar para ver la semilla de vez en cuando y verificar su progreso en lugar de confiar e Dios para hacernos crecer. Cristo producirá el fruto en nuestra vida si permanecemos en él. Morar en Cristo significa depender de él, vivir para él y confiar en él.
Dios está complacido contigo en cada fase de tu crecimiento espiritual. No está esperando hasta que seas perfecto para empezar a amarte. Recuerda que el crecimiento requiere tiempo.
Oración
Señor, me impacienta mi crecimiento en Cristo. Sé que es algo que requiere tiempo. Ayúdame a permanecer en ti y a confiar en que estás obrando en mi vida.
Day 215 • From an Acorn to an Oak
I tell you the truth, a grain of wheat must fall to the ground and die to make many seeds. But if it never dies, it remains only a single seed.
(JOHN 12:24, NCV)
God takes two days to make mushrooms, but he takes sixty years to make an oak tree. Do you want to be a mushroom or an oak tree? Growth takes time.
When you examine your growth, you may wonder, “Why is it taking me so long?” Notice what Jesus said in John 12:24. He was talking about his death, but it applies to us as well. When Jesus says, “I tell you the truth,” he means, “Now get this! Tune in! This is really important.”
The point Jesus was making is that death precedes life. Just as a grain of wheat must die to produce fruit, so must we die to our own selfishness to see growth. But we like to dig up the seed every now and then and check on its progress instead of trusting God to grow us. Christ will produce fruit in our lives if we remain in him. Remaining in Christ means depending on him, living for him, and trusting him.
God is pleased with you at every stage of your spiritual growth. He is not waiting until you are perfect to begin loving you. Remember that growth takes time.
Prayer
God, I get impatient about growing in Christ. I know that it takes time. Help me to remain in you and trust that you’re working in my life.
