¿Verdad que los juegos y las aplicaciones online son divertidos? Y cuanto más juegas, mejor llegas a ser. Enviar mensajes de texto a tus amigos también es bastante entretenido. La tecnología ha facilitado muchísimo la vida y la ha hecho más agradable. No tienes más que preguntarles a tus padres.
Ellos podrían contarte lo complicada que era la vida antes de las computadoras. Sin embargo, también te dirían cuánto más sencillo parecía el mundo antes de que tuvieran tantas cosas. El dinero te permite comprar juegos y artilugios geniales. Sin embargo, cuantas más cosas posees, más tienes de qué preocuparte. Y cuanto más sean esas cosas, más fácil te resultará olvidar a Dios.
Aunque Jesús no creció en una familia rica, conocía a gente de gran riqueza. Podía ver cómo el dinero y las cosas ahogaban lo más importante. Por encima de todo, él quería que sus discípulos maduraran en su fe. Y quiere esto mismo para ti.
¿Cómo haces, pues, para mantener tu crecimiento espiritual? En primer lugar, deja espacio para el Señor cada día. Antes de empezar a mandar mensajes de texto, comparte con el Señor lo que hay en tu mente. Dile que lamentas haber puesto otras cosas por delante de él. ¡Puedes estar seguro de que te perdonará!
Oración
Señor, hay tantas distracciones que apartan mi mente de ti. Resulta difícil centrarse cuando hay un nuevo juego con el que jugar u otra cosa que ver en la televisión. Te ruego que me ayudes hoy a ponerte a ti primero.
Day 205 • Choked or Growing?
The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature.
(LUKE 8:14)
Aren’t online games and apps fun? And the more you play, the better you get. Texting with your friends is pretty fun too. Technology has made life a whole lot easier and enjoyable. Just ask your parents.
Your parents could tell you how complicated life was before computers. But they could also tell you how much simpler the world seemed before they had so much stuff. Money allows you to buy cool games and devices. But the more you have, the more you have to worry about. And the more you have, the easier it is to forget God.
Although Jesus did not grow up in a wealthy family, he knew very rich people. He could see how money and stuff choke out what is most important. More than anything, Jesus wanted his disciples to mature in their faith. He wants the same for you.
So how do you keep growing spiritually? For one thing, make room for the Lord every day. Before you start texting away, tell the Lord what’s on your mind. Tell him you’re sorry for putting other things first. You can be sure he will forgive you!
Prayer
Lord, there are so many distractions to take my mind off you. It’s hard to be focused when there’s a new game to play or something else to watch on TV. Please help me today to put you first.
