AMA A TUS ENEMIGOS

LOVE YOUR ENEMIES

But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.
—LUKE 6:27–28

The world we live in is full of people who are filled with hatred, anger, resentment, strife, and bitterness. Most of them have been unjustly treated in some way and have refused to forgive their enemies. Holding on to past offenses only makes them more miserable, but they hold on anyway.

If you are at odds with anyone, I highly recommend that you do yourself a favor and quickly forgive that person. God’s Word teaches us the way to peace, and one of those ways is to love our enemies, do good to them, and pray for them. We may not feel like doing so or think it is fair, but if we will obey God, He will be our Vindicator and bring His justice into our lives.

Forgiving people who have hurt you is not a feeling; it is a decision. This decision is easier to make if we believe the best about people. For example, instead of believing they hurt you on purpose, you could believe they were not even aware they wounded you. Another thing that helps is to realize that hurting people hurt people. Stop speaking negatively about those who have hurt you, and begin to pray for them regularly. Soon, your feelings toward them will change.
Prayer:

“Father, I choose to forgive anyone who has hurt me, but I need your help to do it. Let me remember that You always forgive me and that I should always be ready to quickly forgive others. Amen!
