Tú sabes cómo me siento y puedes sanar mi herida emocional y repararme. Gracias. En el nombre de Jesús. Amén”.
GRIEF AND LONELINESS
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.
—DEUTERONOMY 31:6
Grief and loneliness are major problems in our society today. Millions of people suffer from them for a variety of reasons, including feeling that no one understands them; being shy or extremely timid, which prevents them from making friends easily; and enduring abuse. Circumstances such as divorce, single parenthood, death of a spouse, and losing friends to death, or any kind of loss, sickness, pain, or suffering also contribute to feelings of loneliness and grief. In addition, people who go through changes such as retirement or having their children leave home can feel lonely and need to grieve.
When we feel alone, we feel deserted. But we are never truly alone, because God has promised to never leave us.
When you feel lonely, one of the best remedies for it is to look at what you have left, not merely what you have lost. Fix your eyes on what you cannot yet see by looking at your future with hope. And don’t just look with your natural eyes; look with your spiritual eyes too. Remembering that you are not the only one who feels alone can also help. Reach out to someone else who is lonely or grieving, and as you minister to and comfort them, you will be comforted too.
God is the “God of all comfort” (2 Corinthians 1:3), and the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, lives inside of you (John 14:16–17). When you are hurting, the first thing to do is ask God to comfort you, and He will.
Prayer:
“Father, when I am lonely or grieving over a loss in my life, I ask You to comfort me. You know how I feel, and You can heal my emotional wound and make me whole again. Thank You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
