¿Has notado cómo Acab se ha humillado ante mí? Por cuanto se ha humillado, no enviaré esta desgracia mientras él viva, sino que la enviaré a su familia durante el reinado de su hijo.

Como rey y reina de Samaria, Acab y Jezabel eran unos malcriados. De modo que cuando Acab vio una viña cerca de su palacio, se le antojó. Pero había un problema: su propietario, Nabot, dijo que no. Finalmente, con la aprobación del rey, la reina Jezabel hizo apedrear al dueño hasta la muerte.
Esto solo fue un episodio más de «La pecaminosa vida del rey Acab». De hecho, la Biblia afirma: «Nunca nadie como Acab que, animado por Jezabel su esposa, se prestara para hacer lo que ofende al SEÑOR» y que constantemente se comportó de la forma más terrible (1 Reyes 21.25, 26). De modo que cuando el perverso rey escuchó realmente la advertencia del profeta Elías de enmendarse o sería destituido, ¡debió de haber sido bastante chocante!
Todos conocemos a niñas y niños como Acab que hacen daño a los demás, toman lo que no es suyo y se jactan de su maldad. Con frecuencia estas personas han intimidado a otros durante años, de modo que pensamos que nunca cambiarán.
Sin embargo, como demostró Acab, sí pueden hacerlo. Como Elías, no tenemos por qué ser su mejor amigo, pero podemos ayudar a dirigirlos hacia Dios por medio de nuestras oraciones, palabras y actos. No des por perdidos a los Acab y las Jezabeles de tu vida.
Oración
Señor, desearía que los niños malos de mi vida desaparecieran sin más. Sin embargo, tú los creaste y quieres que formen parte de tu familia, como yo lo soy. Ayúdame a guiarlos hasta ti con mis oraciones, palabras y conductas.
Day 352 – Don’t Give Up on the Bad Guys
Have you noticed how Ahab has humbled himself before me? Because he has humbled himself, I will not bring this disaster in his day, but I will bring it on his house in the days of his son.
(1 KINGS 21:29)
As king and queen of Samaria, Ahab and Jezebel were spoiled rotten. So when Ahab saw a vineyard close to his palace, he wanted it. One problem: the vineyard owner, Naboth, said “no.” Eventually, with Ahab’s approval, Queen Jezebel had Naboth stoned to death.
It was just one more episode of “The Sinful Life of King Ahab.” In fact, the Bible says, “There was never anyone like Ahab, who sold himself to do evil in the eyes of the LORD,” and that he constantly behaved in the most terrible way (1 Kings 21:25, 26). So when the evil king actually listened to the prophet Elijah’s warning to shape up or ship out, it must have been pretty shocking!
We all know girls and boys like Ahab; they hurt others, take what’s not theirs, and then brag about their meanness. Often these people have intimidated others for years, so we think they will never change.
But as Ahab demonstrated, they can. Like Elijah, we don’t have to be their best friend, but we can help steer them toward God through our prayers, words, and actions. Don’t give up on the Ahabs and Jezebels in your life.
Prayer
God, I wish the mean kids in my life would just disappear. But you created those kids and want them to become part of your family, just like I am. Help me guide them to you with my prayers, words, and behaviors.
