¿Dices lo primero que se te pasa por la mente o refrenas tu lengua? ¿Saltas de inmediato para dar tu opinión o esperas hasta ver lo que dicen los demás? En lo referente a la fe, la iglesia y Dios, hablar de ello puede no parecer fácil. Si eres valiente no tendrás problema a la hora de decirles a los demás lo que crees. Pero es posible que te sientas mal cuando no logras ganar a otros y ponerlos de tu lado. Si eres tímido, no dirás ni pío a menos que alguien quiera realmente saber acerca de tu fe. Ninguna de las dos cosas es correcta o incorrecta.
Pablo, ese individuo atrevido que siguió a Cristo, demostró que de un modo u otro siempre verás toda una diversidad de respuestas. A él no le asustaba hablar de su fe, pero también sabía cuándo tenía que cerrar la boca. Sabía que no era él quien debía convencer a otros acerca de Dios. Él tendría que hacer la obra en sus corazones. Y si la valentía o el silencio de Pablo ayudaban, entonces estaba dispuesto a hacer su parte, guardando silencio o hablando alto y claro.
Oración
Señor, eres asombroso y mereces que se hable de ti, pero no siempre resulta fácil compartirte con los demás. Te ruego me des valentía cuando la necesite y silencio cuando no sea el momento adecuado de hablar.
Day 342 – To Speak or Not to Speak?
Some of the Jews were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas, as did a large number of God-fearing Greeks and quite a few prominent women. But other Jews were jealous; so they rounded up some bad characters from the marketplace, formed a mob and started a riot in the city.
(ACTS 17:4–5A)
Do you speak your mind or hold your tongue? Jump in with your opinion or wait to see what others say? When it comes to faith, church, and God, talking about them may not seem easy. If you are bold, you’ll have no problem telling others what you believe. But you may get upset when you aren’t able to win others to your side. If you are shy, you won’t let out a peep unless someone really wants to know about your faith. Neither way is right or wrong.
Paul, the bold guy who followed Christ, demonstrated that either way, you’ll always see a variety of responses. He was unafraid to talk about his faith, but he also knew when it was time to shut his mouth. He knew he wasn’t the one who would convince others about God. God would have to do work in their hearts. And if Paul’s boldness or quietness helped, then he was ready to do his part, silently or loudly.
Prayer
Lord, you are amazing and worth talking about, but it’s not always easy to share you with others. Please give me boldness when I need it and silence when it’s not the right time to speak.
