Cuando andas por ahí, ¿quién se porta mejor contigo? ¿Quién te mira mal o te insulta? ¿Tratas a los demás así, alguna vez? Tal vez la chica lista te ha puesto de mal humor, y te das la vuelta cada vez que ella pasa por tu lado, alejándote de ella. Tal vez estés celoso de ese ricachón, así que nunca le pides que se una a tu equipo (aunque sea bastante simpático). Es fácil posicionarse y salir solo con aquellos que son como nosotros o que nos hacen sentir bien.
Durante largo tiempo, Pablo, el misionero, estaba tan en contra de ciertas personas que hizo todo lo que estaba en su mano para herirlos y matarlos. Pero cuando Pablo se encontró con Jesucristo, cambió. (¡Hasta cambió de nombre, una buena idea, ya que tenía una pésima reputación!). Empezó a amar a todos. Se sentía tan emocionado con Dios que quería hablar con todos y romper todas las barreras. ¿A quién le importaba que los gentiles y los judíos no debieran juntarse, como se suponía? Pablo lo iba a hacer de todos modos. Se consideraba un siervo de Dios que tenía un mensaje para todos.
¿Podrías ser como Pablo? Con la ayuda de Dios, puedes. Tomar partido no importa mucho cuando ves a las personas necesitadas de Dios. Querrás que todos oigan acerca de lo más importante: el amor de Dios sin barreras.
Oración
Señor, no soporto a ciertas personas. Son demasiado diferentes o extrañas. Pero tú sí las amas, y yo debería quererlas también. Perdóname por tomar partido y dejar a algunos fuera.
Day 341 – No Sides
I am obligated both to Greeks and non-Greeks, both to the wise and the foolish. That is why I am so eager to preach the gospel also to you who are in Rome.
(ROMANS 1:14–15)
When you are out and about, who is nicest to you? Who gives you the evil eye or insults you? Do you ever treat others that way? Maybe the smart kid makes you angry, so you spin on your heel away from her every time she passes by. Maybe you are jealous of the rich guy, so you never ask him to join your team (even though he is nice enough). It’s easy to pick sides and hang out only with people who are like us or make us feel good.
For a long time, the missionary Paul was so against certain people that he did everything he could to hurt and kill them. But when Paul met Jesus Christ, Paul changed. (He even changed his name, which was a good move, since he had such a bad reputation!) Paul started loving everyone. He was so excited about God that he wanted to talk with everyone and break down all the barriers. Who cared if the Gentiles and Jews weren’t supposed to mix! Paul was going to do it anyway. He saw himself as a servant of God with a message for everyone.
Could you be like Paul? With God’s help, you can. Picking sides doesn’t matter much when you see people in need of God. You’ll want everyone to hear about what’s most important: God’s love with no barriers.
Prayer
Lord, I just don’t get some people. They are too different or strange. But you love them, and so should I. Forgive me for choosing sides and leaving people out.
