Hubo una vez un rey que tuvo un sueño absurdo, de modo que convocó ante su presencia al intérprete de sueños. Este le proporcionó con exactitud el significado del sueño… y no eran buenas noticias. ¿Te gustaría ser quien le tuviera que dar malas noticias a un rey?
Daniel lo hizo. Era tan sabio que incluso transmitir una dura verdad no suponía para él riesgo alguno. Cuidadosamente explicó la verdad para que el rey no se incomodara. Básicamente esto es lo que comunicó: «Es posible que sean malas noticias, pero puedo darle un buen consejo que le ayudará a seguir prosperando» (ver Daniel 4.27). Así no parecen tan malas noticias.
Con frecuencia queremos evitar decir la verdad sobre asuntos difíciles como la idea de que el pecado nos separa de Dios o que Jesucristo, el Hijo de Dios, es el único camino al cielo, o que existe el bien y el mal. Pero la sabiduría de Dios —del tipo de la que le dio a Daniel— nos ayudará a transmitir la verdad de la forma correcta, en el instante adecuado. ¿Por qué no usar las palabras de Daniel cuando llegue el momento?
Oración
Señor, necesito tu sabiduría para transmitir la verdad y hacerlo bien. No sé si soy lo bastante valiente para ello. Tú tendrás que hablar por medio de mí como lo hiciste con Daniel.
Day 338 – Timeless
This is the interpretation, Your Majesty, and this is the decree the Most High has issued against my lord the king: You will be driven away from people and will live with the wild animals; you will eat grass like the ox and be drenched with the dew of heaven.
(DANIEL 4:24–25A)
There once was this king who had a crazy dream, so he called in the dream interpreter. The dream interpreter told the king exactly what the dream meant—and it wasn’t good news. Would you want to be the one telling bad news to a king?
Daniel did. He was so wise that even telling the harsh truth wasn’t a risk for him. He carefully delivered the truth so that even the king wouldn’t get upset. Basically Daniel said, “This may be bad news, but I can give you good advice that will help you continue to prosper” (see Daniel 4:27). That doesn’t sound so bad.
Often we want to shy away from telling the truth about tough topics such as the idea that sin separates us from God or that God’s Son Jesus Christ is the only way to Heaven or that there is right and wrong. But God’s wisdom—the kind that he gave Daniel—will help us deliver the truth in the right way at the right time. Why not use Daniel’s words when the time comes?
Prayer
God, I need your wisdom to speak truth and to speak it well. I don’t know if I am bold enough to do that. You’ll have to speak through me like you did with Daniel.
