Ahora bien, si tú enseñas a otros, ¿por qué no te enseñas a ti mismo? Predicas a otros que no se debe robar, ¿pero tú robas?

Si tu vecina hablara sin parar sobre el par de zapatos nuevos tan fabulosos que le han comprado, pero no se los vieras nunca puestos, en algún momento le pedirías: «¡Oye, enséñame esos zapatos tan fabulosos!». Entonces descubres que es su mamá la dueña de los zapatos, y que tu amiga no tiene ni Idea de cómo caminar con zapatos de tacón; ¡además, su madre no se los prestaría! Habló más de la cuenta.
¿Hablar por hablar o hablar con hechos? ¿Cuál de estas dos cosas haces tú? Afirmar que eres seguidor de Jesús es fácil. Seguir lo que él enseñó es mucho más. Dios quiere que sus hijas e hijos le pongan pies a su fe. Que practiques lo que crees. Si solo te limitas a hablar, tus actos demostrarán la verdad.
Por ejemplo, si engañas o mientes, pero aseguras que crees el mandamiento bíblico sobre la sinceridad, no pasará mucho tiempo antes de que alguien note la diferencia. Dios quiere que seas una niña que escucha su Palabra y vive acorde a ella. Empieza a caminar con su ayuda; pronto tus pasos mostrarán exactamente qué palabra crees.
Oración
Señor, no quiero fingir que te conozco. Quiero vivir según tus preceptos para que todos te conozcan.
DAY 334 – Walk the Talk
You, then, who teach others, do you not teach yourself? You who preach
against stealing, do you steal?
(ROMANS 2:21)
If your neighbor talked on and on about the cool new pair of shoes she got but you never saw her wear them, at some point, you’d say, “Show me the fabulous shoes!” Come to find out, her mom owns the shoes, but your friend has no idea how to walk in platform heels—plus, her mom won’t let her! She talked big but had no walk.
Talk the talk or walk the walk? Which one do you do? Claiming you are a follower of Jesus is easy. Following what Jesus taught takes a lot more. God wants his daughters and sons to put feet to their faith. He wants you to practice what you believe. If you only have the talk, your actions will show the truth.
For instance, if you cheat or lie but say you believe the Bible’s command about honesty, it won’t take long before someone notices the difference. God wants you to be a kid who hears his Word and lives by it. Start walking around with his help; soon enough your steps will show exactly whose talk you believe.
Prayer
Lord, I don’t want to pretend to know you. I want to live according to your ways so that everyone knows it.
