Manasés tenía doce años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó en Jerusalén cincuenta y cinco años. Su madre se llamaba Hepsibá. Pero Manasés hizo lo malo a los ojos del Señor, pues siguió las prácticas repugnantes de las naciones que el Señor había arrojado de la presencia de los israelitas; además, reconstruyó los altares en los montes que Ezequías su padre había derribado, y erigió altares a Baal; hizo una imagen de Asera, como lo había hecho el rey Ajab de Israel, y adoró y rindió culto a todo el ejército de los cielos.

¿Te gustaría ser presidente? Te quedan unos cuantos años que esperar; la Constitución de Estados Unidos estipula que tienes que tener al menos treinta y cinco años para poder dirigir el país. En la Biblia no había requisitos de edad. A la muerte de un rey, su hijo mayor subía al trono independientemente de la edad que tenía.
Así es como Manasés se convirtió en rey de Judá a la edad de doce años. Su padre, Ezequías, había seguido fielmente a Dios, pero cuando murió, su hijo no continuó con el legado de su padre. El joven rey era tremendamente impío.
Como demuestra Manasés, las elecciones que hacemos tienen un impacto enorme, aunque seamos pequeños. Las decisiones que Manasés tomó desde los doce años en adelante condujeron a la ruina de toda una nación.
Probablemente no seas rey, pero, como Manasés tienes poder. Cada día puedes elegir glorificar a Dios y mostrar su amor a los demás, o puedes apartar de ti a tu familia, amigos y compañeros de equipo. ¿Qué escogerás?

Señor, a mi edad parece que nada que haga realmente importa. Sin embargo, sé que no es así. Ayúdame a recordar que mis elecciones importan.
Day 332 – Your Choices Matter
Manasseh was twelve years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem fifty-five years. His mother’s name was Hephzibah. He did evil in the eyes of the LORD, following the detestable practice of the nations the LORD had driven out before the Israelites. He rebuilt the high places his father Hezekiah had destroyed; he also erected altars to Baal and made an Asherah pole, as Ahab king of Israel had done. He bowed down to all the starry hosts and worshiped them.

Want to be president? You’ve got a few years to go; the US Constitution says you have to be at least thirty-five to run the country. In the Bible, there were no age requirements. When a king died, his oldest son took over, no matter how old he was.
That’s how Manasseh became king of Judah at twelve. His father Hezekiah had faithfully followed God, but when he died, Manasseh failed to continue his dad’s legacy. The young king was seriously wicked.
As Manasseh demonstrates, the choices we make even when we’re young have a huge impact. Manasseh’s decisions from age twelve on led to the ruin of an entire country.
You’re probably not a king, but like Manasseh, you do have power. Every day you can choose to glorify God and show his love to others, or you can lead your family, friends, and teammates away from him. Which will you pick?
Prayer
At my age, God, it seems like nothing I do makes a difference. But I know that’s untrue. Help me remember that my choices matter.
