En cuanto la carta del rey Artajerjes se leyó en presencia de Rejún, del cronista Simsay y de sus compañeros, todos ellos fueron a Jerusalén y, por la fuerza de las armas, obligaron a los judíos a detener la obra. De este modo el trabajo de reconstrucción del templo de Dios en Jerusalén quedó suspendido hasta el año segundo del reinado de Darío, rey de Persia.

Construir una iglesia no es coser y cantar. Intenta añadir un puñado de demagogos y agitadores a los que, en realidad, no les gustas.
Zorobabel y su panda de obreros variopintos de la construcción se enfrentaron a este problema cuando reconstruyeron el templo de Dios. Preocupados al ver que los judíos ganaban poder, sus enemigos se pusieron de inmediato manos a la obra en la «Operación Ruinas del Templo». ¡En realidad, el templo quedó inacabado durante otros dieciocho años!
¿Significa esto que Zorobabel fracasó? ¡De ninguna manera! Dios vio su esfuerzo y su pasión por reedificar el templo, y eso le agradó.
Cuando hacemos algo asombroso por Dios, esto asusta a sus enemigos. El diablo no quiere vernos llenos del poder divino, de modo que hace cualquier cosa por detenernos. Pero es temporal.
Finalmente, aquel templo se acabó, pero nunca se habría conseguido sin los esfuerzos de Zorobabel. Si tus grandes planes de cambiar el mundo para Cristo se topan contra una barricada, no te preocupes. Podría parecer que Dios va perdiendo en el descanso, al final siempre gana el partido.

Señor, tengo problemas para entender por qué no siempre tengo éxito cuando estoy haciendo algo para ti. Dame paciencia, perseverancia y fe mientras espero tu luz verde
Day 292 – Roadblocks
As soon as the copy of the letter of King Artaxerxes was read to Rehum and Shimshai the secretary and their associates, they went immediately to the Jews in Jerusalem and compelled them by force to stop. Thus the work on the house of God in Jerusalem came to a standstill until the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.

Building a church is no walk in the park. Try adding a bunch of rabble-rousers who really don’t like you.
Zerubbabel and his band of ragtag construction workers faced this problem when they rebuilt God’s temple. Their enemies, worried about the Jews gaining power, immediately got to work on “Operation Temple Trash.” In fact, the temple sat unfinished for another eighteen years!
Does that mean Zerubbabel failed? No way! God saw his effort and passion for rebuilding the temple, and that pleased him.
When we do something awesome for God, it scares God’s enemies. The Devil doesn’t want us full of God’s power, so he does anything to stop us. But it is temporary.
That temple eventually did get finished, but it wouldn’t have happened without Zerubbabel’s efforts. If your big plans to change the world for Christ hit a roadblock, don’t worry. It may seem like God isn’t ahead at halftime, but he always wins the game.
Prayer
Lord, I have trouble understanding why I don’t always succeed when I’m doing something for you. Give me patience, perseverance, and faith as I wait for your green light.
