Y le presentaban niños para que los tocara, pero los discípulos los reprendieron. Al verlo, Jesús se indignó y les dijo: «Dejen a los niños venir a mí, y no los impidan porque de los tales es el reino de Dios».

¿Qué edad tienes? ¿Nueve, diez, doce años? A veces tal vez desearías ser mayor o menor. O también podría parecer que los estudiantes de instituto son más importantes que tú, porque eres más joven. Quizás pienses que los adultos tienen más influencia con Dios. ¿Sabes una cosa? Dios ama a los niños tanto como a la abuelita de más edad. A él no le importa los años que tienes.
Esto no significa que no tengas que respetar a los adultos y obedecerles. Lo que sí quiere decir es que Dios puede usarte ahora. No tienes por qué esperar hasta hacerte mayor. No necesitas aguardar hasta ser más listo. Ni a ser más fuerte. Cuando Jesús llegaba a la ciudad, les decía a los niños que fueran a visitarlos. Al ver que los adultos se enfurecían por ello, él les indicó que dejaran de molestar. Se enojó. «Dejen a los niños venir a mí», replicó.
Jesús no tenía favoritismo, y desde luego nunca hizo que nadie se sintiera poco importante. Todavía debes respetar a quienes son mayores que tú (Jesús ordenó que honres a tu madre y a tu padre, y a los que ostentan autoridad), pero puedes esperar que Jesús se alegre de tener una conversación contigo o de recibir una visita cada vez que lo necesites.
Oración
Señor, te doy las gracias por tratarme como si fuera especial, independientemente de la edad que tenga. ¿Cómo puedo servirte ahora en lugar de esperar hasta que sea mayor?
Day 276 • The Perfect Age
People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.”
(MARK 10:13−14)
What’s your age? Nine, ten, twelve years old? Sometimes you may wish you were older or younger. Or it may seem like high school students are more important than you are because you are young. Or you may think that adults have more influence with God. Guess what? God loves children as much as the oldest grandma. How old you are doesn’t matter to him.
That doesn’t mean that you don’t have to respect adults or obey them. But it does mean that God can use you now. You don’t have to wait to grow older. You don’t have to wait until you are smarter. You don’t have to wait to be stronger. When Jesus was in town, he told the children to visit him. When adults got mad about that, Jesus told them to knock it off. He got ticked. “Let them come to me,” he said.
Jesus didn’t play favorites, and he certainly didn’t make anyone feel unimportant. You still need to respect those who are older than you (Jesus did say to honor your mom and dad and those in authority), but you can expect that Jesus will welcome a conversation with you or a visit whenever you need him.
Prayer
Lord, thanks for treating me as special, no matter how old I am. How can I serve you now instead of waiting until I’m older?
