Bezalel hizo el arca de madera de acacia… La recubrió de oro puro por dentro y por fuera, y puso en su derredor una moldura de oro. Fundió cuatro anillos de oro para el arca, y se los ajustó a sus cuatro patas, colocando dos anillos en un lado y dos en el otro.

Bezalel no tenía el nombre más hermoso ni el más popular. Sin embargo, sabía cómo hacer bellas creaciones con sus manos. Era como el mejor de los joyeros en combinación con el mejor carpintero… un gran artista. Dios escogió a Bezalel para hacer un arca especial. Pasó días trabajando con el oro para conseguir el brillo adecuado.
¿Por qué se preocupaba Dios de que el arca fuera tan refulgente? A Dios le gustan todas las cosas bellas. Cuando creó el mundo, hizo a las personas, los animales, las plantas, las gemas, los lagos. Hizo numerosas cosas lindas. Él mismo es un asombroso artista. Y quiere que descubras y admires la belleza. Parte del sublime mundo de Dios es que les dio a las personas la capacidad de crear cosas hermosas como las joyas, las casas, las pinturas y la ropa. Está bien disfrutar de ellas. Solo tienes que recordar que la belleza se originó con Dios, y usa tus propias creaciones para ofrecerle algo bonito a cambio.
Oración
Señor, en ocasiones es como si ciertos chicos fueran mejor parecidos o tuvieran más talento que yo. Te ruego que me muestres lo que hay de hermoso en mí y cómo puedo crear cosas hermosas para ti.
Day 273 • Original Beauty
Bezalel made the ark of acacia wood … He overlaid it with pure gold, both inside and out, and made a gold molding around it. He cast four gold rings for it and fastened them to its four feet, with two rings on one side and two rings on the other.
(EXODUS 37:1−3)
Bezalel did not have the prettiest or coolest name. But he knew how to make beautiful creations with his hands. He was like the best jeweler combined with the best carpenter—a master artist. God chose Bezalel to make a special ark. Bezalel spent days working with gold to get just the right glimmer.
Why did God care if the ark looked brilliant? God loves all things beautiful. When he created the world, he made the people, the animals, the plants, the gems, the lakes. He made many beautiful things. He’s an amazing artist himself. And he wants you to find and admire beauty. Part of God’s beautiful world is that he gave people abilities to create beautiful things like jewelry, houses, paintings, and clothes. It’s okay to enjoy them. Just remember that the beauty originated with God, and use your own creations to offer something beautiful back to him.
Prayer
Lord, sometimes it seems that certain kids are better-looking or more gifted than me. Will you show me what is beautiful about me and how I can create beautiful things for you?
