Todo el mundo lucha contra la tentación. Y es que somos descendientes de Adán y por esta razón entramos a este mundo con deseos desencadenados por el pecado. Algunas personas sienten la tentación de comportarse mal. Los hay que se sienten incitados a hacer trampas con el trabajo escolar. Otros son tentados a cometer hurtos en las tiendas y otros más ocultan la verdad.
Dios nos advierte de que la tentación se interpondrá en nuestro camino. Sin embargo, siempre nos meterá en líos. Aunque sepamos que no está bien ceder a ella, ¿cómo podemos evitar meter la pata?
La clave para resistir a la tentación es buscar al Señor con todo nuestro corazón. Esto significa ponerle a él en el primer lugar. Quiere decir pensar en él y también hablar con él. Y cuando conversas con el Señor, sé totalmente sincero con él. Confiésale cuando te sientes débil o tentado, y por qué.
Que estés leyendo esto hoy es una prueba de que estás dedicando tiempo a ser fuerte contra las cosas que te tientan. Leer la Palabra de Dios y pensar en lo que lees permite que el Espíritu Santo te dé su poder para mantenerte puro. ¿Por qué no memorizar el versículo de hoy?
Oración
Señor, quiero honrarte con mi vida. Amplía mi fuerza para resistir a las tentaciones que llegan a mi vida y a ser absolutamente sincero contigo al respecto.
Day 267 • When You’re Tempted
How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands.
(PSALM 119:9–10)
Everybody struggles with temptation. Because we are descendants of Adam, we entered this world with desires that are triggered by sin. Some people are tempted to misbehave. Some are tempted to cheat on schoolwork. Others are tempted to shoplift; and still others hide the truth.
God tells us that temptation will come our way. But temptation will always land us in hot water. Even if we know it is wrong to give in to temptation, how do we keep from messing up?
The key to standing up to temptation is seeking the Lord with all our hearts. That means putting him first. It means thinking about him. It also means talking to him. And when you talk to the Lord, be totally honest with him. Admit to him when you are feeling weak or tempted and why.
The fact that you are reading this today is proof you are taking time to be strong against the things that tempt you. Reading God’s Word and thinking about what you read allows the Holy Spirit to give you power to remain pure. Why not memorize today’s verse?
Prayer
Lord, I want to honor you with my life. Build my strength to resist temptations that come my way and to be completely honest with you about them.
