Entonces la ira de Balac se encendió contra Balán, y chasqueando los dedos le dijo: Te mandé llamar para que echaras una maldición sobre mis enemigos, ¡y estas tres veces no has hecho sino bendecirlos! ¡Más te vale volver a tu tierra! Prometí que te recompensaría, pero esa recompensa te la ha negado el SEÑOR. (NÚMEROS 24.10–11)
El país de Moab tenía y rey malvado, el rey Balac. A él y a los moabitas no les gustaba el pueblo de Dios, los israelitas. Los moabitas temían que los israelitas entraran por la fuerza y se adueñaran de su territorio. De manera que el rey Balac contrató a Balán para que le ayudara.
El rey ofreció pagar una gran cantidad de dinero si Balán accedía a pronunciar una maldición sobre el pueblo de Dios. Pero Dios quería bendecir a Israel y Balán lo sabía. Tuvo que tomar una decisión difícil. ¿Hacer el mal y tener riqueza o hacer lo correcto y dejarle los resultados a Dios? Afortunadamente, Balán tomó la decisión adecuada incluso cuando el rey estaba enojado. Dios estaba contento con él.
¿Cómo te sientes cuando los niños de la escuela o tu equipo que piden que hagas algo malo con ellos? Parece tentador. Cuando escoges hacer lo correcto, Dios lo ve. Incluso cuando otros se aparten de ti por haber escogido lo adecuado, Dios te recompensará en formas que tus amigos no conocen. Ser una chica o un chico piadoso puede implicar soledad y parece costoso. Sin embargo, al final, Dios te bendecirá.
Oración
Señor, ayúdame a hacer lo correcto incluso cuando parezca difícil. Ayúdame a hacer lo correcto, porque sé que eso te hace feliz.
Day 211 • The Right Choice
Then Balak’s anger burned against Balaam. He struck his hands together and said to him, “I summoned you to curse my enemies, but you have blessed them these three times. Now leave at once and go home! I said I would reward you handsomely, but the LORD has kept you from being rewarded.”
(NUMBERS 24:10−11)
The country of Moab had a bad king, King Balak. King Balak and the Moabites did not like God’s people, the Israelites. The Moabites were afraid the Israelites would muscle their way In and take over their land. So King Balak hired the prophet Balaam to help him.
The king offered to pay a lot of money if Balaam would simply put a curse on God’s people. But God wanted to bless Israel, and Balaam knew it. He had a hard choice to make. Do wrong and get rich, or do right and leave the results to God? Fortunately, Balaam made the right decision even though the king was angry. God was happy with Balaam.
How do you feel when kids at school or on your team ask you to do wrong with them? It seems tempting. When you choose to do the right thing, God sees. Even if others pull away from you because you choose to do right, God will reward you in ways that your friends cannot. Being a godly girl or boy can be lonely and seem costly. But, in the end, God will bless you.
Prayer
Lord, help me to do the right thing even when it seems hard. Help me to do the right thing because I know it will make you happy.
