“ . . . te aconsejo que avives el fuego del don de Dios que está en ti. . . ” (2 Timoteo 1:6, énfasis añadido).
Usted sea usted. No sea sus padres o sus abuelos. Puede admirarlos, apreciarlos y aprender de ellos. Pero no puede ser ellos. Usted no es ellos. “Cada uno debe examinar su propia conducta. Si es buena, podrá sentirse satisfecho de sus acciones, pero no debe compararse con los demás. Cada uno es responsable ante Dios de su propia conducta” (Gálatas 6:4–5, TLA).
Jesús fue insistente en esto. Después de la resurrección se les apareció a algunos de sus seguidores. Le dio a Pedro una misión pastoral específica que incluía un gran sacrificio. El apóstol respondió señalando a Juan y diciendo: “—Señor, ¿qué va a pasar con éste? Jesús le contestó: —Si yo quiero que él viva hasta que yo regrese, ¿qué te importa a ti? Tú sígueme” (Juan 21:21–22, TLA).
En otras palabras, no se ocupe de la tarea de otras personas; manténgase enfocado en la suya propia.

There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.

“Stir up the gift of God which is in you” (2 Timothy 1:6, emphasis mine).
You be you. Don’t be your parents or grandparents. You can admire them, appreciate them, and learn from them. But you cannot be them. You aren’t them. “Don’t compare yourself with others. Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life” (Galatians 6:4–5 MSG).
Jesus was insistent on this. After the resurrection he appeared to some of his followers. He gave Peter a specific pastoral assignment that included great sacrifice. The apostle responded by pointing at John and saying, “ ‘Lord, what about him?’ Jesus answered, ‘If I want him to live until I come back, that is not your business. You follow me’ ” (John 21:21–22 NCV).
In other words, don’t occupy yourself with another person’s assignment; stay focused on your own.
