El que no está conmigo, está contra mí; y el que no recoge conmigo, desparrama.

¿Te has metido alguna vez entre dos amigos que se están peleando? No suele ser divertido. Parece más fácil mantenerse al margen, evitar escoger bandos para que nadie se enfade contigo. Es lo más inteligente cuando se trata de amigos. Sin embargo, no funciona igual de bien cuando es el caso de la lucha entre el bien y el mal. En Mateo 12 Jesús acababa de discutir con los fariseos acerca de hacer buenas cosas. Estos señalaban con el dedo y afirmaban que la única forma en que Jesús podía luchar contra el mal era porque él mismo era ese mal. Por supuesto, esto es una tontería. El mal no derrota al mal. Tampoco el bien lucha contra el bien. Jesús va directo al grano y les hace ver esto. A continuación declara que a menos que las personas no se decidan por el bien, estarán tomando el partido del mal.
No hay forma de mantenerse fuera de la lucha cuando esta se libra entre el bien y el mal. O amamos a Jesús y defendemos el bien o estaremos trabajando en contra suya. No hay término medio. Hemos de escoger un bando.
Oración
Señor, ayúdame a estar de tu lado. No quiero acabar en el bando equivocado solo por temer a verme involucrado.
Day 194 • Pick a Side
Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.
(MATTHEW 12:30)
Ever get in the middle of two friends who are fighting? It’s not very fun. It seems easier to stay out of it—to avoid picking sides so that you don’t make anyone mad. That’s smart when it comes to friends. But it doesn’t work as well when it comes to the fight between good and evil. In Matthew 12, Jesus had just finished arguing with the Pharisees about doing good things. The Pharisees were pointing fingers and saying that the only way Jesus could fight evil was if he was evil himself. Well, that is just silly. Evil doesn’t beat up evil. Neither does good fight good. Jesus gets straight to the point and tells them so. Then he says that unless people take a stand for good, they are siding with evil.
There is no way to stay out of the fight when it comes to good versus evil. Either we love Jesus and take a stand for good, or we are working against him. There is no middle ground. We have to pick a side.
Prayer
Lord, help me to stand with you. I don’t want to end up on the wrong side just because I’m afraid to get involved.
