THE FORGIVENESS OF SIN
Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit.
—PSALM 32:1–2
Are you feeling guilty or condemned about your sins today? You can admit your sins, repent of them, and receive God’s gift of complete forgiveness.
Jesus paid for our sins; He took our punishment and removed the guilt our sins deserved. He promises not only to forgive us but also to remember our sins no more, removing them as far as the east is from the west (Hebrews 10:17; Psalm 103:12).
For a couple of weeks, I have been thinking about the forgiveness that is promised to us. The more I think about it, the more amazed I am at this wonderful gift God makes available to us. It is sad that so many people ask and ask for this forgiveness, yet fail to receive it by faith. They believe their feelings, such as guilt and condemnation, more than they believe God’s Word, which is a big mistake.
After you have sincerely repented for any sin, continuing to feel guilty is unnecessary and self-defeating. When Jesus forgives our iniquities and removes them, there is no longer anything to feel guilty about. Satan is the accuser of God’s children (Revelation 12:9–10). He accuses us falsely, and we should not listen to his lies. Tell the enemy that your sins are forgiven and that God no longer remembers them. If you persist in speaking this truth, soon your feelings will change.
Prayer:
“Father, thank You so much for the forgiveness of my sins. Your kindness and mercy are beyond comprehension. Jesus, thank You for taking the punishment I deserved and setting me free from guilt. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
